Green! | [Chester County Child Photographer]

So you may be wondering where I’ve been . . . I can’t believe my last post was almost six weeks ago! I’ve traveled many miles since then—some for fun, and some for business—and I hope to do a post about that soon. One of my travel destinations was Minnesota, and while there I did a photo session for a good friend.

K and I go way back . . . we met our freshman year of college at Concordia. We had a lot of fun times there, and after college we roomed together for several years. She met and married W, they have four beautiful kids, and the rest is history!

As I drove to their house, I was thinking about the look I wanted to get for their photos. One of the things I envisioned was one of K’s tow-headed daughters in a simple white dress, out in one of the fields on their property. K had no idea about that vision, but lo and behold, when I got there Miss I was wearing a white dress! We had wonderful weather and even more beautiful light! And . . . their field was actually green (hence the title of this post). I couldn’t believe how dry and brown everything was when I got back home!

I had a hard time narrowing things down for this post, so here’s an extended sneak peek . . . . This processing in this first photo is a little different than what I usually do, but the kids’ timeless clothing and the weathered garage just seemed to ask for a vintage-y feel.

K and W’s kids range in age from 13 on down to three, and I have to say that I love, Love, LOVE working with older kids! I still love babies and little ones too, but this was a fun treat. Unfortunately, Mr. I wasn’t as excited about the photo session as I was, but he did cooperate and we got some great shots of him. (Truthfully, I think it was the extended period of close proximity to his little sisters that he disliked, rather than me. At least that’s what I’m telling myself! 🙂 )

One way that I engaged Mr. I was to ask if he wanted to take some photos on his four-wheeler. I had to include one below so you could imagine him and me riding the ATV to our shooting location. I had my camera around my neck and my bag on my shoulder, and I was hanging on to him for dear life! I probably outweigh him by 100 pounds, and it was a bumpy, uphill ride to our location. Thankfully, we both made it intact and so did my gear!

Could they have a more photogenic family? I don’t think so, and you’ll understand why when you see the photo of K and W!

And just a few more. T, N, and little Miss I had a great time picking “flowers” (weeds) to incorporate into their photos, but they aren’t just girly-girls. They can keep up with their older brother, and they even have their own ATV! I love the last shot where they seem to be riding off into the sunset.

K and W, it was so great to see you both, and to spend time with your growing family. I wish we lived closer so we could get together more often!
