I’ve worked with this little girl’s daddy for about ten years, and I was so excited when they wanted to do a newborn session. I got to their house, and they had this awesome green wall. They wanted to incorporate the Zs since her initials are ZZ, and I love that she’s getting her Zs while she poses with the Zs!

It was a really dark and overcast morning, but the sunroom in their house has windows with white sheers all the way around, PLUS a few skylights. It was like a giant softbox, and we took full advantage of it!

And finally, we pulled out the black backdrop and I got a rather non-traditional shot of her sweet little feet. I love the way they come together at the bottom and almost form a heart!

Tonight I kicked off my busy fall schedule with a wonderful family from my church. We went to nearby Springton Manor Farm for some scenic backdrops and beautiful evening light.

Aren’t these girls gorgeous? They were preschoolers when I first met them—I can’t believe how they’ve grown!

And of course, we had to take a few family shots too. I love the pop of red in this one.

I just returned from a two-week trip to Minnesota, where I worked a little bit, vacationed a little bit, photographed a little bit, and hung out with my family a whole lot! I really enjoyed spending time with my sister’s three kids, and I even talked them into doing a little mini session.

A is 13, and he’s smart, sensitive, and funny. Except when he turns on the seat heater in your car for the millionth time on an 85-degree day! Okay, even then he’s pretty funny.

C is 10, and she’s every bit a tween. She wasn’t too happy with the shirt her mom chose for our session, so she added the hat and glasses to make the look her own. I think she looks great, and it was so much fun to take her photo.

And L is six. We made sure to get this session in now because one of those front teeth is loose. Next time I see her, she won’t look like a little kid anymore. Instead, she’ll have a gap-toothed smile or maybe even the beginnings of her permanent teeth (*sniff!*)! But somehow, I think she’ll remain just as chatty and goofy as she is now.

You know when you’re in a restaurant and they seat you right next to the big, loud group? Well, last week I was part of “that group.” On the last night before I left town, I went to dinner with my mom, her two sisters, my sister, and the rest of the girls in the family. There were nine of us, and we had a great time laughing, talking, laughing, reminiscing, and laughing. Did I mention that there was laughing?

Here’s a snapshot of Mom, me, and my sister. I don’t remember the last time the three of us were in a photo together!

And now that I’m home, I’m working hard getting ready for the busy fall and holiday season. My calendar is filling up, and there are only a few spots left in 2009! I can hardly believe it! If you’re interested in an early November session, the time to call is now!

As they say, timing is everything. I’m in Minnesota visiting family and friends this week, and it just so happens that this little guy was born two weeks ago. He belongs to my step-cousin, and today I went for a visit and a quick session.

He was wide awake when I arrived, but after a quick feeding he was putty in our hands. He slept through nearly everything!

If you’ve ever gone shopping with me, you know that I’m always on the lookout for props I can use. Apparently, this affliction has rubbed off on my mom. She’s the one who found this adorable hat.

As soon as I saw that E was dreaming, I just waited because I was pretty sure we’d see a few smiles. He didn’t disappoint!

T, it was great to see you and G today, and I’m glad the girls had a chance to play together. It was great to meet E—what a sweetheart he is! Can’t wait to see you all at Thanksgiving!
